Humayun Ahmed

Humayun Ahmed is the most popular Bengali writer and had a “meteoric rise in Bangla literature” since the publication of his first novel, Nondito Noroke. Humayun Ahmed was born to Foyzur Rahman and Ayesha Foyez on 13 November 1948 in Kutubpur of Mymensingh district in then East Pakistan, now Bangladesh.

Jafar Iqbal

Jafar Iqbal was born on 23 December 1952 in Sylhet. His father, Foyzur Rahman Ahmed was a police officer and because of his father's occupation, he traveled to various parts of the country as a child. Zafar Iqbal was inspired by his father for writing at an early life and wrote his first science fiction at the age of seven

Anisul Hoque

Anisul Hoque was born in Rangpur in 1965 (1966, according to academic certificate). His father is late Mofazzal Hoque and mother is Mst. Anwara Begum. He was the student of Rangpur PTI primary school, Rangpur Zilla School, Rangpur Carmichael College. Hoque graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, trained as a civil engineer. His inspiration in journalism and writing started during his student life. After his graduation he joined to serve as a government employee but resigned only after 15 days. Later, He started working as a journalist. He attended the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa in 2010. Currently, Hoque is working as a Deputy Editor of the Bengali language daily Prothom Alo which is the leading newspaper in Bangladesh.

Samaresh Majumdar

Samaresh Majumdar is a well known contemporary Bengali writer. He spent his childhood years in the tea gardens of Duars, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, India. He was a student of the Jalpaiguri Zilla School, Jalpaiguri. He completed his bachelors in Bengali from Scottish Church College, Kolkata. His first story appeared in "Desh" (a Bengali magazine) in 1967. "Dour" (Run) was his first novel, which was published in "Desh" in 1976.

Sunil Gangopadhyay

Sunil Gangopadhyay was born in Faridpur in what is now Bangladesh. He studied at the Surendranath College, Dumdum Motizhil College , City College, Kolkata, all affiliated with the University of Calcutta. Thereafter, he obtained his Master's degree in Bengali from the University of Calcutta in 1954.
